How do I install/uninstall the Master Driver?

  2. H.264 support
Does Stream Valve/IP support H.264 encapsulated in a transport stream?

Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions when using Windows Operating Systems. This list will be updated periodically. If you do not see the question that you are referring to please go to our contact page and we will be happy to respond by phone or email to your inquiry.

1. Installing the Master Driver in Windows
How do I install/uninstall the Master Driver?

The following steps are required to install the driver on a system running a Microsoft Windows Operating System (Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003 Server):

1.1. With the new card installed and the computer rebooted, the Operating System's Plug-and-Play (PNP) will find the device and display the New Hardware Found Wizard. Leave this wizard open and go to step 1.2.

1.2.Insert the Driver installation CD and, once the installation applet starts, press the "Install Driver" button to begin installation. This will install the driver files and related program files to the default directory of C:/Program Files/Linear Systems Ltd/Master Driver unless otherwise changed.

1.3.Go back to the New Hardware Found Wizard from step 1.1 and select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and check the "Include this location in the search" box. Click on the browse button and navigate to the location where the driver files are installed (C:/Program Files/Linear Systems Ltd/Master Driver by default).

1.4.After selecting the correct directory, click on the 'Next' button and follow the prompts to complete the driver installation.

1.5.NOTE: For some versions of the driver (version 7.8.0.1 or earlier ), a window may pop up saying that the driver is an unsigned driver. Select 'Yes' to continue anyway.

1.6.Steps 1.3 to 1.5 will need to be repeated over again to install all driver layers. In the case of the DVB Master Quad/I, for example, the process will repeat five times - once for the card and four times for the channels.

1.7.Open the Device Manager and confirm that there is the correct number of Device instances (Card Name and Model #) under sound, video and game controllers. In the above example, there should be five Device instances for the DVB Master Quad/I (Step 1.6).

1.8.If the PnP was cancelled or does not start then follow these steps to complete the installation.

1.9.Open the Device Manager and find the "Unknown Device" under sound, video and game controllers or Other devices. Right-click on the "Unknown Device" icon and select Update driver. If there are no "Unknown Device" icons shown in the Device Manager, go to step 1.14, otherwise continue to step 1.10 below.

1.10.The PnP will ask to connect to the internet to find a driver. Choose "No, not this time" then press "Next".

1.11.When asked if the hardware came with an installation CD, choose "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)" and click on "Next".

1.12.Choose "Search for the best driver in these locations" and check the "Include this location in the search box". Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to the location where the CD installed the driver files (Step 1.2).

1.13.Repeat the above step multiple times as required until all of the instances of "Unknown Device" are removed from the sound, video and game controllers or Other Devices sections of the Device Manager.

1.14.If there are no "Unknown Device" shown in the Device Manager, highlight the Computer Name at the top of the tree and click on Action in the Menu Bar. Choose "Scan for New Devices" from the drop-down menu. This will restart the New Hardware Found Wizard. Complete Steps 1.3 to 1.5 above to install the driver.

To Uninstall the device driver:

1.15. Open the Device Manager and find the Dveo Device or Devices (Card Name, Model #) under sound, video and game controllers or Other devices. Right-click on the Device icon and select Uninstall. Select Yes to uninstall all software for the cards. Repeat this step for each of the Dveo Devices shown in the Device Manager.

1.16. If there are any issues uninstalling the driver, follow the below steps to manually uninstall the devices and driver:

1.17. Delete the DvbLink.sys file from the WINDOWS\system32\driver directory (or the WINNT\system32\driver directory in Windows 2000).

1.18. Delete the oem*.inf and corresponding .pnf file from the WINDOWS\inf directory (or the WINNT\inf directory in Windows 2000). You will need to search the text of these files for 'dvblink.sys' to delete only the oem*.* files corresponding to the Linear Systems Master driver.

1.19. Reboot the system. NOTE: The system must reboot before uninstalling the driver from the Device Manager.

1.20. Open the Device Manager and find the "Unknown Device" or the Device or Devices (Card Name, Model #) under sound, video and game controllers or Other devices. Right-click on the Device icon and select Uninstall and when asked if you want to uninstall all software for the cards choose yes. Repeat this step for each of the Dveo Devices shown in the Device Manager.
